An Ounce of Prevention Equals a Lifetime of Healthy Teeth
At Southern Rivers Dental, an ounce of prevention goes a long way, and it begins with a thorough oral health exam twice per year.
Because we customize our approach to your child’s oral health, specifically if he or she is prone to cavities or has other dental health issues, a modified treatment plan, and schedule will be utilized instead.
We are very good at instilling healthy habits in children by teaching them about their oral health, cavities, and why a good health routine at home is the best course. We also use age-appropriate language and are good at building solid rapports with children of all ages.
Our dental hygienists provide a nurturing environment for children and are very good at easing your child’s fear of the dental office. In fact, our pediatric patients love our dental hygienists and enjoy having their teeth cleaned as a result.
We begin seeing children shortly before kindergarten, and our preventive care includes:
- Regular dental exams
- Digital x-rays for safe and clear images
- Professional teeth cleaning at least twice per year
Dental Fillings and Extractions
General dentistry is maintenance dentistry, and our dentists excel at repairing the childhood dental issues that we have all faced at one time or another. And they always apply a gentle hand when filling cavities.
In some cases, older teens require wisdom teeth extractions. These teeth are the last to come in, and they sometimes encroach on other teeth. In some situations, they only partially erupt, which can cause pain, swelling and puts your child at an increased risk for a dental infection.
We offer nitrous oxide, oral or IV sedation—the latter is especially helpful for those who are feeling anxious.
