Dental Implants

Losing teeth can be disheartening. You can’t eat your favorite foods, you feel self-conscious when laughing, and maybe you have noticed your teeth begin to shift because of smile gaps.
We want you to feel good about you smile, enjoy your favorite foods, and help to prevent further tooth loss in the future. This is why our leading cosmetic dentists offer the best tooth replacement options.

The Dental Implant Process at Southern Rivers

Dental implants begin with a comprehensive evaluation of your oral health to make sure you’re a good candidate for dental implants. In some cases, sinus lifts, or bone grafting are required.

Sinus lifts are a way to provide space for your implant when the area between your sinus and dental implant is not sufficient. Bone grafting requires placing donor or synthetic bone into your jaw if you do not have sufficient bone to support a dental implant.

Sinus lifts and bone grafting are not common, but they help to increase the odds for successful dental implant placement in select patients.

If you’re considered a good candidate for dental implants, the next step is implant placement. A dental implant is a small titanium post that one of our dentists surgically implants in your jaw.

This post bonds with your jawbone over a period of months and provides a solid foundation for your dental implant restoration. This is a life-like tooth that looks and functions just like a natural tooth. In fact, dental implants are so much like natural teeth that they require no special care beyond brushing, flossing, and regular dental office visits.

It’s important to remember that a dental implant cannot decay, but it will not prevent gum disease. Oral care is important to maintain an implant just as it is important to maintain natural teeth.

Dental Implant Options

If you have multiple missing teeth or wear dentures, dental implants can help provide a more permanent solution. As per the All-on-4® treatment concept, four strategically placed implants are strong enough to support an entire arch of restoration teeth! The benefits include:

  • Staving off jawbone shrinkage
  • No slippage
  • No adhesives
  • No realignments

Sedation Dentistry for a Pain-Free Dental Experience

We provide fillings that are colored to match your teeth. This means no more silver! Tooth-colored fillings are cosmetic, but they are also a big part of our general dentistry.

Dental Bonding

We offer nitrous oxide for relaxation—along with soft neck pillows and cozy blankets. However, if you need a little extra help with anxiety, we provide IV sedation. This means that it is unlikely that you’ll remember your dental procedure, and you will need a ride home from a friend or family member.

Dental implant post placement is not particularly painful. In fact, most patients describe the discomfort as being similar to an extraction.

We will provide aftercare instructions or anything else you might need for comfort at home. Swelling and discomfort, however, usually only last a few days.
